Weekday at Corehead
11.03.2026Today we continued removing the fence that we started the previous week.
There were 3 other volunteer plus Adrian the site manager.
We managed to extract several hundred meters of fence all-in-all.
The fence was completely unaccessible by vehicle so it all had to be carried out by hand.
The trick was to fold the fence up tightly where possible so that it was more compact and easier to carry out by hand.
While the bracken is suppressed this time of year, there is still a fair bit of vegetation and uneven terrain, not to mention some recently planted trees.
So the fence really had to be carried out by hand.
The weather was mostly good be there were some heavy downpours throughout the day - I lost count of how many times I donned/removed my waterproofs.
Corehead site updates
- The unsurfaced track has developed some pretty hefty pot holes. Theses were being filled as I arrived with type 2 aggregate plus some cement for a semi-flexible hole filling. Contractors were also onsite to discuss a proper surfacing of the road at Corehead.
